What are your passions/hobbies outside of work?
Playing music, hiking and reading. I would say they influence my work. Reading helps you to understand the viewpoint of others, which is helpful in any work scenario.
How did you get into the trade show business?
I found a company was looking for a person with the same job title I had at the time and when I went on the companies website I thought what they were doing looked like a lot of fun.
I would say Blue. There’s nothing like looking out into a large body of water and gazing at the endless blue.
That is a tough question, but probably Vonnegut’s Breakfast of Champions. I love all of his works and I find the satire in this one fantastic. I am also a huge fan of Camus, Sartre, and Thoreau.
Favorite TV/ Movies?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is probably my favorite movie. It is just a really cool concept for a movie. Also, Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey are both great in that movie.
Favorite Musicians or Bands?
The Bouncing Souls are a melodic punk band that really introduced me to punk rock and an outlet I would use in creating my own music for the rest of my life. I also really like the Avett Brothers, Propagandhi, Against Me!, Strike Anywhere, Dillinger Four, Black Flag, Two Cow Garage, Ramshackle Glory and Joyce Manor.
What is your greatest strength?
I really love thinking through problems and finding solutions. Also, my ability to pick things up and learn them very quickly.
What is your biggest weakness?
I overthink things a lot which can slow things down, but it also ensures accuracy.
What words of wisdom or advice would you share with any trade show professional starting out?
There is a lot to learn, just be patient with yourself.
Favorite Social Media Platform?
Facebook, because it is the easiest way to connect with old friends.
What job/career would you want if you weren’t in the trade show industry?
Probably a history or philosophy teacher.
Mantra or Saying you live by?
Always be open to new ideas and don’t confine yourself to labels. You can’t learn anything new if you are stuck in one mindset and close yourself off to new experiences.
